Universities and schools have been closed until June 2022. This is done to control the spread of the coronavirus epidemic within the nation. As the schools and universities are among the major crowded areas, opening them could lead to an increased number of Covid-19 cases in the country.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier deferred JEE Mains 2022. Previously, it was to be conducted on April 5,7,8, and 11 to the last week of May.

The authorities had released the JEE Advanced 2022 Brochure on march 6. It includes details like registration dates, eligibility, mode of exam, etc.

The HRD minister announces about the JEE Advanced exam through a short video, released on Twitter. In his short message, he confirmed the date and also advised students to stay safe. He also asked the students to follow the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Ayush. He advised students to download the Aarogya Setu app, a Covid-19 tracker mobile app. This will help them to record their health and track the cases of Covid-19 around them.

Seats for girls in JEE Advanced

The JEE Advanced 2022 exam, which is to be conducted by IIT Delhi, will have 20% of seats reserved for girls. However, to increase the intake, these seats will be an addition to the present seats. This will not decrease the selection chances of the student. Last year, about 17% of the seats were reserved for the girl category.

As noticed, the no. of girls was quite less as compared to boys in IITs for the last many years. Therefore, to eliminate discrimination, the increment of seat reservation has been done.

The mode of exam for both the Mains as well as the Advanced will be online or computer-based tests. The students qualifying the JEE Mains exam and lie under 2.5 Lakh rank will be qualified to give JEE Advanced. The result of JEE Mains is expected to be declared in the first week of August.
