Skills Required

If you ask any recruiter about the attributes or skills required by an MBA candidate then you will get a long list. But have you ever think of the basic and crucial list of skills they want in a candidate? You must be known of the most common and desirable skill but have you ever wondered about reskilling of candidates? Do you know the recruiters looking for entirely different skills?

During the coronavirus pandemic, a team of experts amend their measures in June 2020 saying that post the pandemic more than half of the global workforce will need total or partial reskilling as this will no longer fit in modern structure. A recruiter will now look for the following skills that will eventually make an MBA candidate more employable.

  • Clear and Factual Communication

Many MBA students fail in interview although having good academic score due to a lack of clear and factual communication skills. Communication is the transfer of information in the form of an idea, thought, feelings, etc. Mostly, the MBA students who need to address business meetings, interact with clients and represent a corporate brand to the world, should be more aware of essential communication skills. The post-pandemic effect even changed this concept because nowadays recruiters not only hire based on communication skills but also the ability to get their points across efficiently closely backed by facts.

  • Problem Solving

What if your client wants you to meet the deadline but you don’t have resources? What if your a colleague is ill and you have to take a part of him? What if your meeting is on zoom call but you can’t manage the things? Well, this is what a recruiter sees in you and your tactics to solve such problems. MBA graduates must have the skills to negotiate, identify the root cause of problems and the ability to solve problems.

  • Strong Social and Emotional Skills

An MBA student must have strong social and emotional skills to be both emotionally intelligent and empathic to keep the team together and avoid unproductive conflicts. The pandemic exposed the necessity of exposed collaboration.

  • Leadership

MBAs have to slightly change their leadership to make sense of the disruption, prolonged pressure and a rapidly changing environment. Your leadership must be visible even if you’re not. Emotional intelligence is needed when you want to understand your teammates. But in all, the most important leadership quality is to “lead yourself” and to ensure this, leaders have to take care of themselves emotionally and physically.

  • Working in a Hybrid Environmental

In a typical hybrid environment, it is an employee who decides where and when he wants to work by dividing the time between work from home and in-office work. Pandemic has changed the kind of work we were doing, it all became online. Experts suggest even after the pandemic, remote working will be continued.

Having a hybrid environment enables cooperates to reduce their operating costs and capital investments. In this way, employees save their travel costs and spend more time with their families.

  • Strategic Thinking

How an MBA student thinks strategically is being noticed by the recruiters and this is incrementally possible after the pandemic. Strategic thinking includes strategy development, competitive environment analysis and strategy implementation, prompting the students to think strategically in the future business endeavour.

  • Prompt Adaptability

Many issues are being faced by the companies or in business due to the Covid-19 pandemic and hence recruiters are looking forward to hiring those candidates who will be adept at dealing with such situations. You have to take promote decisions and need to adapt to this every day. If you want to stand distinct from others then you have to be mastered at prompt adaptability. To have this trait you need to be open-minded to take certain or uncertain decisions.

Overall, the skills in an MBA degree makes you more employable and open the gates of opportunity. Over the past few months and this Covid-19, skills have modified or added as per the cooperates and entrepreneurship demands. If an MBA aspirant wants a bright career then he must be mastered at clear and factual communication, problem-solving, strong social and emotional skill, leadership, working in a hybrid environment, strategic thinking, prompt adaptability, etc. More or less these skills must be learnt in an MBA distance program so that employment possibility will increase.
