Updates on TET
Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Education Minister has declared that the validity of the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) qualifying certificate has been extended from seven years to a lifetime with the contemplative process from 2011.
The Minister tweeted that the respective state government or UTs will take necessary action to renew fresh TET certificates to those candidates whose period of seven years has already elapsed. Further, he added, this will be a positive step in increasing the employment opportunities for those candidates who are aspiring to make a career in teaching.
This is what the crucial step was taken by the government and the biggest benefit is that now teachers can apply for the TET more than seven years toma lifetime which didn’t applicable before. This eventually will increase the employment opportunities for the teachers.
About TET
People can know that the Teachers Eligibility Test in India is one of the essential qualifications for a person to be eligible for an appointment as an elementary school teacher. The national-level Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by the CBSE and the CTET certificate is accepted when applying for elementary school teaching. The TET exam is also conducted at the state level by most states.
Every year Lakhs of candidates apply for the TETs, intending to get recruited in any of the following teaching posts:-
• Primary teachers (PRTs): For Classes 1 to 5
• Trained Graduates Teachers (TGTs): For Classes 6 to 10
• Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs): For classes 11 and 12
Note: After qualifying TET, candidates are eligible for applying to a school. However, that doesn’t mean TET guarantees the recruitment of the candidate in school. To get a job, the candidate has to go through the interview process.
TET Background
The Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) was introduced by the government of India in the year 2011. This is done to improve the standard of teaching in elementary schools and the lives of teachers. Teachers already working were expected to pass the exam within two years.
TET Eligibility Criteria
There only general criteria to be eligible to give TET exam. It must be noted that the below-mentioned eligibility criteria may vary according to different TET for which a candidate is applying. The candidate needs to fulfill the below TET criteria:-
• The candidate must have done graduation from any recognized university with 45% marks.
• The candidate should obtain the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or have completed any other teaching course or programme
• The age limit must be between 18 to 35.
Documents Required for TET
Before applying for TET, candidates must have an idea about the documents which are required for TET. Given below is the list of documents:
• Recent photograph
• ID proof
• Caste Certificate
• Age Certificate

• Experience Certificate
TET Exam Pattern
The TET exam pattern varies as per the subjects a candidate has chosen.
• The paper has been divided into two parts, Paper-1 and Paper-2.
• Paper-1 is conducted for those candidates who plan to teach classes 1-5
• Paper-2 is conducted for those candidates who plan to teach classes 6-8.
• The paper consists 150 objective-types Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 150 marks.
• The time duration is typically 150 minutes given to complete a TET exam i.e., two and a half hours.

How to Apply for TET
The filling of the Application is done in online mode. For each state, there will their own website which the candidate needs to visit. Here are the General Steps on how you can fill the application form.
• Visit the respective websites of the TET Exam 2022 for different states.
• Click on the link provided for the Online Application.
• Press the “Registration” button and provide the details asked.
• After providing all the information. Login again to complete the application form given.
• Upload the documents asked.
• Make the Fee payment
• Click on the “Submit” button.
• Take the printout for future use.
FAQs
How can I qualify TET Exam?
A person who scores at least 60% in the TET exam will be assessed to have qualified for the exam. TET exam is a qualifying exam in multiple-choice format ( MCQ ) consisting of 150 questions in two papers. Paper-I and Paper-II.
Who conducts Teacher Eligibility Test?
TET is conducted at both the central and state level. At the central level, it is conducted by CBSE and at the state level by the respective state authorities under the state government.
How many times is this exam conducted in a year?
It is conducted as per the vacancies. It can be conducted twice a year, once a year, or once in two or three years. So there is no fixed schedule.
How many attempts are there in the TET exam?
There will be no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a TET Certificate. You can give it numerous times.
